Jehovah God promises:
📖 “The eyes of all look hopefully to you; you give them their food in its season” (Psalm 145:15,16). He is not distant from the cries of the poor. He hears and responds in practical ways, giving strength, wisdom, and relief at the right time:
- Through prayer: He hears the pleas of those in need and answers with strength, wisdom, or relief. The psalmist assures:
📖 “O Hearer of prayer, to you people of all sorts will come” (Psalm 65:2). We can be sure that God hears each prayer. How important it is to pray to the living God “who gives me strength” (Psalm 18:46), the One who truly has the power to answer! - Through endurance: Jehovah God gives power beyond what is normal so His servants can keep going through lean times. Paul explained that:
📖 “the power beyond what is normal may be God’s and not from us” (2 Corinthians 4:7). Isaiah adds:
📖 “Those hoping in Jehovah will regain power. They will soar on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not tire out” (Isaiah 40:31). - Through His people: True Christians share with one another, following the pattern of the first congregations. About 55 C.E., Paul wrote to the Corinthians about an offering made by Christians in Macedonia and Achaia to help their brothers in Palestine. He explained:
📖 “By means of an equalizing your surplus just now might offset their deficiency, in order that their surplus might also come to offset your deficiency, that an equalizing might take place” (2 Corinthians 8:14).
Jehovah God looks after His children. Even when poverty weighs heavily, He provides strength to endure and surrounds His people with a loving, supportive family. Today, His people are blessed with a sustaining spiritual arrangement and a banquet of rich spiritual food (Isaiah 25:6). This nourishment and care are just a foretaste of what His Kingdom will accomplish in the future — when no one will ever say, “I am hungry.”
