Paul urged:
📖 “Encourage one another and build one another up” (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

In Nazi camps, Jehovah’s Witnesses lived this command under extreme conditions.

When SS officers wanted someone they could trust, they chose Witnesses. They knew a Witness would never harm another human with a razor, poison a household, or steal from them. Even enemies recognized the integrity of Christian love.

Among themselves, Witnesses displayed remarkable unity. When the Sachsenhausen camp was evacuated at war’s end, guards forced prisoners on a death march. Thousands perished along the way. Yet not a single Witness was left lying on the road. They helped one another — even the elderly, some over 70 years old — making sure no one was abandoned. Other prisoners stole food and were shot, but Witnesses used every chance to share their message of hope and, in turn, received food from strangers who were touched by their faith.

This is what true fellowship looks like: encouragement, loyalty, and unity even in the face of death. For those longing for a supportive spiritual family today, the Christian congregation offers the same kind of care and strength.
