God’s Kingdom promises a future where no one will fear polluted streams or unsafe taps: “They will not harm nor destroy in all my holy mountain.” (Isaiah 11:9) And Revelation 11:18 assures us that God will “bring to ruin those ruining the earth.” He promises a time when “a river of water of life, clear as crystal, [will flow] from the throne of God and of the Lamb. On both sides of the river were trees of life producing 12 crops of fruit, yielding their fruit each month. And the leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nations.” (Revelation 22:1-2)
Whether this description is symbolic or literal or both, the message is unmistakable: all humans depend on clean water to survive. And God guarantees that in the future – water will be restored to its original, unpolluted state (Acts 3:21).
However, Jesus himself spoke of greater water. To the Samaritan woman at the well, he said: “Whoever drinks from the water that I will give him will never get thirsty at all, but the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water bubbling up to impart everlasting life.” (John 4:14) Health agencies stress how vital clean water is — but only God can provide the true infrastructure of life under his Kingdom rule.
Yet Jesus was not speaking only of physical water. He quickly shifted the conversation toward worship: “The true worshipers will worship the Father with spirit and truth.” (John 4:23-24) This reveals that the “water” is also spiritual truth — a stream of knowledge connecting us directly to the Source of all life.
But could this stream of truth ever become contaminated? Sadly, yes. Through false teachings, human tradition, and competing religious claims, many streams have been polluted. Jehovah himself invites us: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters… Listen, and you will live.” (Isaiah 55:1-3)
This raises a vital question: Among the many religions of the world, which one provides the pure, life-giving water of truth? Even among Christians — Catholics, Orthodox, Protestants — beliefs differ widely about salvation, baptism, and church authority. Jesus, however, made the answer simple: “This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent, Jesus Christ.” (John 17:3)
