Centuries after Sarah, Jehovah raised up Deborah—a prophetess who also served as a judge in Israel (Judges 4:4,5). People came to her for guidance on matters of law and even war. At a time when leadership was often male-dominated, Jehovah God entrusted Deborah with authority because of her wisdom and faithfulness.

Deborah did not seek glory for herself but used her position to encourage others, including the military commander Barak. Her courage inspired the people to act with faith. This shows that women, too, can be leaders when guided by Jehovah’s spirit.

From Deborah we learn that God does not measure worth by gender but by faith and obedience. Women who face prejudice today can draw strength from her example: Jehovah values their wisdom, and He can use their courage to accomplish great things.
