๐Ÿ“– โ€œThe Son of man has nowhere to lay his head.โ€ โ€” Luke 9:58

Jesus knew what it was to wander without a bed of his own.
He walked dusty roads, slept under open skies, and depended on the kindness of others.
His compassion for the displaced came from experience โ€” not theory.ย

He fed the hungry, comforted the weary, and offered a spiritual home to all who followed him.
๐Ÿ“– โ€œCome to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down, and I will refresh you.โ€ โ€” Matthew 11:28

How Can Jesus Refresh Us?

Letโ€™s read from his words in Matthew 6, where he delivered his famous Sermon on the Mount.
He said in Matthew 6:19โ€“21:

๐Ÿ“– โ€œStop storing up for yourselves treasures on the earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal. Rather, store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.โ€

How Can We Store Up Treasures in Heaven?

Jesus was sent to earth to explain his Father, God (John 1:18).
God โ€” who dwells in heaven โ€” can offer us deep and lasting comfort.ย

Jesus said in Matthew 10:29โ€“31:

๐Ÿ“– โ€œTwo sparrows sell for a coin of small value, do they not? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your Fatherโ€™s knowledge. But even the hairs of your head are all numbered. So have no fear; you are worth more than many sparrows.โ€

And in 2 Corinthians 1:3,4 we read:

๐Ÿ“– โ€œPraised be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of tender mercies and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our trials so that we may be able to comfort others.โ€

Yes, the God of all comfort sees our distress.
He is deeply interested in our welfare.
He watches over both the good and the bad, and he sees all things (Proverbs 15:3).
God truly wishes to comfort us in our trials.ย

Returning to Jesusโ€™ sermon, he said in Matthew 6:33โ€“34:

๐Ÿ“– โ€œKeep on, then, seeking first the Kingdom and his righteousness, and all these other things will be added to you. So never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles.โ€

Seeking the Kingdom is like finding and storing up treasures in heaven.
Jesus illustrated this when he said in Matthew 13:45โ€“46:

๐Ÿ“– โ€œAgain the Kingdom of the heavens is like a traveling merchant seeking fine pearls. Upon finding one pearl of high value, he went away and promptly sold all the things he had and bought it.โ€

What Is This Kingdom We Should Seek?

Perhaps now we begin to understand that this Kingdom hope is of great value.
Through our growing faith in Godโ€™s Kingdom, we store up treasures in heaven โ€” treasures of knowledge, faith, and peace.
Our heavenly Father watches over us with interest and approval as we keep digging for more spiritual truth.ย

When we remember that Jesus โ€” the future King of Godโ€™s Kingdom โ€” once had no home on earth so that he could focus on preaching the good news, we realize he understands the pain of every refugee, every evicted family, and every soul seeking rest.

Soon, the One who had no place to lay his head will prepare secure dwellings for all who love him when he rules as King of that Kingdom.

God promises a future where everyone will have a secure home โ€” not temporary shelter, but lasting peace and belonging.
