Comfort When You See DisasterThe world can feel frightening at times. News reports tell of shootings, cult tragedies, terrorism, earthquakes, hurricanes, and heartbreaking accidents. We watch the footage and wonder: What is happening to our world? We may feel uneasy, even fearful, as society grows more violent and the earth itself seems to groan.

Yet these disturbing events were not unforeseen. Long ago, Jesus described exactly what we now see on our screens every day. He spoke of “fearful sights” and worldwide distress — not to terrify us, but to assure us that God has not lost control. He said these things would occur just before deliverance dawns.

Three Comforting Truths for Troubled Times

Jehovah God knows the terror you feel when violence erupts.
📖 “There will be great earthquakes, and… fearful sights.” — Luke 21:11
Even the Son of God acknowledged how unsettling the last days would be. Jehovah understands the anxiety that grips people after acts of terror or senseless violence. Yet Jesus also said, “Do not be terrified,” because these are signs that God’s Kingdom is close at hand.

Natural disasters remind us that this system cannot endure forever.
📖 “Nation will rise against nation… and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another.” — Matthew 24:7
Earthquakes shake cities, storms destroy homes, droughts parch farmland. Still, each event points to a prophecy fulfilled — the proof that human rule has reached its limits and that a new world of peace is drawing near.

Human mistakes prove that mankind cannot direct its own path.
📖 “It does not belong to man who is walking even to direct his step.” — Jeremiah 10:23
Plane crashes, chemical spills, or careless words that spark violence — all reveal the imperfection of human leadership and decision-making. But they also highlight the wisdom of trusting the One who can guide life perfectly.

A Hope Stronger Than Fear

When Jesus described these turbulent times, he didn’t tell his followers to hide or lose hope. He said something astonishing:

📖 “As these things start to occur, stand up straight and lift up your heads, because your deliverance is getting near.” — Luke 21:28

So while many lose faith in human systems — governments, economies, and industries that have polluted the earth and failed to protect life — God’s people look upward with confidence. Each crisis, though tragic, is another reminder that the world’s broken systems are nearing their end and that a better one is about to begin.

Let these words steady your heart. Even amid disaster, you can stand tall — not in fear, but in faith — knowing that deliverance is near and that Jehovah God will soon make the earth a place of peace, safety, and restoration.
